Jordan McFadden to Anchor Bears’ O-Line: Bears Claim Offensive Lineman to Boost Roster
On Friday, the Chicago Bears claimed offensive lineman Jordan McFadden, who was waived by the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler was the first to report. The Bears have yet to announce the claim, but when they do, they will need to make a roster move.
The 25-year-old McFadden was originally a fifth-round draft pick in 2023 from Clemson, and during his Chargers career, he appeared in 13 games with two starts.
While he made the Chargers 53-man roster in 2024, he was inactive most of the year and only dressed for one game. Early in the offseason, head coach John Harbaugh tried to convert the 6’2”, 303-pounder to fullback, but they kept him on the o-line.
He was drafted by L.A.’s previous regime, and he never found solid footing in Greg Roman’s offense despite having set Clemson’s record for starts by an offensive lineman. In college, he played both right and left tackle, but his size necessitated a move to guard in the NFL, which is where he’ll likely try to earn a spot in Chicago.
