Key to Success: Eagles Identify Crucial Factor Behind Strong Start

The Philadelphia Eagles have done everything in their power to move past their collapse from the 2023 season.

Of course, dropping six of your final seven games including a blowout loss in the playoffs is hard to forget. So far in 2024, though, that’s exactly what the Eagles have done.

At 8-2, Philadelphia has opened a strong lead in the race for the NFC East title and even is just a game back of the top seed in the NFC as we get closer to playoff time. Head coach Nick Sirianni has made it clear, though, that what the team has done well before isn’t what the group is focusing on.

“And then the first year too, even in ’21, we started 2-5 and finished 7-2. So we’ve had a couple different paths there,” Sirianni said. “Every season is a little bit different. But learning from all your circumstances. Again, it’s about your mindset and trying to control what you can control.

“Because having success can be just as dangerous as having failure, as far as the scoreboard says.”

Sirianni, of course, is right. Philadelphia started 10-1 last season but didn’t know how to deal with the controversial success on a week-to-week basis last season.

It ended with one of the worst collapses in franchise history.

A fresh mindset is exactly what the Eagles have brought to the table to this point in 2024. It’s why they are 8-2 and considered a top contender in the race for the NFC.

So long as Sirianni’s message doesn’t get stale, it’s clear Philadelphia will remain a top contending team.
