Kittle Joins the Legends: Elite Tight End Enters Rarefied Air with Another Dominant Season
George Kittle has had yet another strong individual season, and it has allowed him to be a part of an elite club of historic tight ends.
George Kittle is one of the best tight ends in the NFL. This has been known for a long time, as he continues to perform at the highest level possible.
Despite the 49ers having a down year, with a 6-10 record, Kittle should receive very little of the blame for it. Even with injuries, he put up very strong numbers.
Kittle had a brilliant season last year, where a few people considered him a favorite to win one of the end-of-season awards.
George Kittle puts up amazing numbers again this season
George Kittle had 76 catches and ran for 1076 yards across this season. This marks his fourth 1000+ yard season as a tight end.
He now joins an elite list of tight ends who have four or more seasons with 1000+ yards, with Travis Kelce (7 seasons), Rob Gronkowski, Jason Witten, and Tony Gonzalez (T-4 seasons).
This is an incredible feat, especially considering some of the other legendary tight ends on the list that haven’t achieved this, such as Shannon Sharpe, Kellen Winslow, and Darren Waller.

With an injury-riddled year for the San Francisco 49ers, Kittle had a brilliant campaign individually. But one has to wonder when the end will be nigh for the Pro Bowl TE.
Kittle is 31 years old and will turn 32 this year. Historically, TE is a young man’s position. Of course, players like Travis Kelce and Rob Gronkowski have proven to be exceptions.
But will next season mark a decline for Kittle? It is a concern that 49ers fans will have to take seriously, even if it doesn’t come to fruition next season, or even the season after.
