Arsenal could now use Gabriel Jesus in shock swap deal to sign William Saliba’s France teammate

Arsenal’s plans for the two transfer windows in 2025 seem to be underway already.

The Gunners have one of the best teams in Europe. They have gone toe-to-toe with Manchester City for the Premier League title in back-to-back seasons, and Mikel Arteta will be hoping that third time’s the charm.

Irrespective of what happens, Arsenal will once again be active on the transfer market in 2025, and they are said to be exploring a shock swap deal.

Arsenal could swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram

Gabriel Jesus continues to divide opinion at Arsenal.

The Brazilian had a sensational start to life as a Gunner following his move from Manchester City in the summer of 2022. He was among the best players in the country in his first two months at the Emirates.

However, since suffering an injury at the World Cup in Qatar, Jesus has had several issues with his fitness, and that has negatively impacted his form.

Kai Havertz is now ahead of the former Palmeiras man in the pecking order, and it will be extremely difficult for Jesus to win his place back.

Now, a report from Inter Live has claimed that Arteta is interested in signing Marcus Thuram and could use Jesus in a swap deal to get him.

It has been claimed that the two attackers have a ‘nominally equal’ transfer value, but Inter Milan would still demand cash along with Jesus to green light this deal.

Thuram, who is a teammate of Arsenal star William Saliba in the French national team, still has a little under four years left on his Inter Milan contract.

Marcus Thuram’s stats compared to Gabriel Jesus

Thuram joined Inter Milan from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2023, a year after Jesus made his move to Arsenal.

In the 2023/24 season, the Frenchman scored 15 goals and provided 14 assists for the Nerazzurri in 46 appearances and played a big part in helping them win the Serie A.

Jesus, who played 10 fewer games than Thuram, only managed eight goals and eight assists in all competitions.

Thuram, in three games in the 2024/25 season, has four goals and two assists to his name, while Jesus has only played five minutes of football this term and is yet to score or assist.

On paper, Thuram definitely looks like an attractive option, but we think Arsenal should focus on signing Alexander Isak in 2025 instead.
