Arsenal have been told what to expect from new signing Raheem Sterling as the Gunners aim to win the Premier League title under Mikel Arteta.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal completed the deadline-day signing of Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling with the Englishman departing West London for North London on an initial loan deal.

Arteta admitted he had a good relationship with Sterling prior to the Gunners signing the former Manchester City and Liverpool ace and the hope will be that the Spaniard can bring the best out of the winger.

Sterling struggled at Chelsea but perhaps the move to North London is exactly the kick he needs to kick on and rediscover his form.

Viv Anderson believes Raheem Sterling could fire Arsenal to a title

Viv Anderson joined the Gunners from Nottingham Forest and went on to help George Graham’s side win the 1987 League Cup final.

The 68-year-old, who later had spells at Manchester United, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Middlesbrough, feels Sterling’s characteristics will prove a good fit for Arsenal’s current attack-minded squad.

Anderson spoke to Sky Sports about the deal and it appears the former Gunners is excited to see what the Englishman can offer.

“It is going to be difficult because clearly Manchester City are the team to beat,” Anderson said.

“But Raheem Sterling has come in on loan until the end of the season, and he is a really good player who can turn games. The manager’s signings have been good and I like what I see at Arsenal, so they have got a chance of bridging that gap (to City).

“With the likes of Sterling, (Bukayo) Saka and Gabriel (Magalhaes) at the back, Arsenal have got some really good players, so it is going to be close.”

Raheem Sterling could be the difference for Arsenal

There is no questioning that Arsenal have one of the most exciting squads in the division, particularly with the additions they have made this summer.

However, one characteristic that Arsenal do not currently possess is players who have been there and done it and won league titles.

With Sterling in the squad, once Arsenal hit the February/March period of the season, which is vital to win a Premier League title, the Englishman can provide that experience and know-how to guide the club through that period.
