Arsenal now eye shock move to sign £50m star in move that will surely annoy Unai Emery
Arsenal are said to be keeping an eye on future transfers even though the next window is still over two months away.
Edu Gaspar and Mikel Arteta have both done a tremendous job on the market in recent years. Almost every player they have signed has contributed well, which is why they are challenging for the Premier League title.
Arsenal will obviously want to become even better and to do that, they will have to further strengthen their squad in the coming windows.
Now, the North London giants have been linked with a move to sign a rival Premier League player.
Arsenal want to sign Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa
Jacobs Ramsey is one of Aston Villa’s most talented players.
The 23-year-old has already played 131 senior games for the Villans, and he is an important part of Unai Emery’s plans in Birmingham.
However, the versatile Englishman will enter the final two years of his contract at the end of this season, and that has increased the speculation about his future.
When Ramsey was linked with a move away from Villa Park earlier this year, Emery publicly claimed that he wants to keep hold of him (Sky Sports).
However, that hasn’t stopped transfer links from emerging, and GiveMeSport have claimed now that Arsenal are interested in signing him.
The report adds that Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also both in the race to sign Ramsey, who is valued at around the £50 million mark.
Emery does not want to lose Ramsey, but if Arsenal find a way to land him, we’re sure that would really annoy the Aston Villa manager.
Do Arsenal even need Jacob Ramsey?
Ramsey is a very talented player, there’s no debate there.
The Aston Villa star is good on the ball, has the ability to drive into the opposition third and has shown he can score goals and provide assists as well.
His versatility of being able to play on the left wing and in attacking midfield makes him an even more attractive option, but we just can’t see why Arsenal would be interested in a player like him.
The Gunners have plenty of options on the left flank, where Ramsey has mostly played. Arteta also has quite a few options in the number 10 role now, with Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz impressing there, Ethan Nwaneri coming through and of course, Martin Odegaard still at the club.
Signing Ramsey for big money makes no sense at all for Arsenal.
