Arsenal star Jurrien Timber fires Tottenham clear six-word North London Derby warning
Jurrien Timber has sent a clear six-word Arsenal warning to rivals Tottenham before this weekend’s North London Derby showdown. The Netherlands international has started the last two Premier League matches for the Gunners after enduring a challenging debut campaign – because of a long-term knee injury.
After seriously damaging his knee in last season’s Premier League curtain raiser, Timber made his senior return on the final day against Everton. Although the defender has been able to get a full pre-season under his belt, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has carefully managed his minutes with a foot issue also impacting his fitness.
Having impressed as an inverted left-back, Timber was called up to the Dutch squad by Ronald Koeman for their recent Nations League fixtures. Following an injury to Manchester City’s Nathan Ake, Timber came on in his place and played the second half of their 2-2 draw with Germany.
Three days prior, Timber also featured off the substitutes bench, playing in the final 24 minutes of the 5-2 triumph over Bosnia and Herzegovina. His arrival in the Germany match also saw him come up against Kai Havertz with the defender involved in a number of individual battles with his Arsenal teammate.
After the final whistle, Timber sent a message to Havertz before swiftly turning his attention on to Tottenham. On Instagram, accompanied by a picture of himself and Havertz tussling for possession, he wrote: “Country rivals! Now on to city rivals.”
