Arsenal transfer news LIVE – Vieria exit, Merino medical, Osimhen U-turn, Arteta contrac

From Raheem Sterling to Reiss Nelson, Mikel Arteta to Mikel Merino, we’ve got you covered in the final week of the window. There’s plenty on the to-do list.

Merino is the priority target at the Emirates Stadium, with a £34million deal moving closer. An agreement for the midfielder has been reached with the final details being ironed out.

Arteta could also look to strengthen his attacking options and fresh interest in Atalanta star Ademola Lookman could be an interesting transfer case to keep an eye on. According to reports in Europe, Arsenal are ready to offer Jakub Kiwior plus £42.5millionto bring the forward to north London, although suggestions are that Paris Saint-Germain have stolen the march with this one.

If it’s not Lookman then could it be Raheem Sterling? football.london understands that the Chelsea winger is not a target for Arsenal – to nobody’s surprise – but more reinforcements cannot be ruled out.

Elsewhere and we’ll have the latest on Victor Osimhen as his future goes down to the wire. Eddie Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale are also in the news as Arsenal build up to taking on Aston Villa this weekend.

Ramsdale transfer latest

Aaron Ramsdale is expected to depart Arsenal this summer, either on a loan deal or permanent basis.

Sky Sports are reporting Southampton and Wolves are in talks to sign the goalkeeper with certain assurances, such as the Saints staying up, are also being discussed.

Ramsdale is also on Bournemouth’s list of targets, though Kepa Arrizabalaga seems to be their current focus.

The options for Arsenal amid attacking transfer wish

Though the transfer of Mikel Merino has been agreed, Arsenal appear far from done in the summer transfer window. Negotiations with Real Sociedad for the Spanish midfielder have taken up the last few weeks, however Edu has finally been able to reach an agreement in the region of £30million.

Departures now appear the priority for the Gunners with Eddie Nketiah edging closer to joining Nottingham Forest. Aaron Ramsdale and Reiss Nelson have also been linked to exits, though it is Fabio Vieira that will be the next player to depart.

According to the AthleticPorto have agreed to re-sign him on loan ahead of Merino’s imminent arrival with Arteta also keen to utilise Ethan Nwaneri. In the final days of the window, Arsenal are keen to add a versatile forward to their ranks with another goalkeeper expected to join if Ramsdale departs.

With Vieira sometimes covering for Bukayo Saka, it is clear Arsenal need another option out wide.
