Leandro Trossard highlights ‘amazing’ thing teammate did in Aston Villa win, he ‘saved’ Arsenal

Arsenal star Leandro Trossard was one of the heroes in their victory over Aston Villa, in what was a tough encounter.

Unai Emery’s side proved a tough test for Arsenal, who lost to Villa twice last season, and the result could have easily swung the other way.

Goals from Trossard and Thomas Partey secured the three points, but they were only able to finish off the game for Arsenal thanks to two key figures at the back.

William Saliba was truly outstanding at centre-back, with Ollie Watkins struggling to get in the game against the Frenchman, whilst goalkeeper David Raya had one of his best moments in an Arsenal shirt.

Raya pulled off a world-class save to deny Watkins when the score was 0-0, and Trossard has praised the goalkeeper following the victory.

David Raya save was match-winning moment for Arsenal against Aston Villa

Given how tight the game was, Raya’s save was a defining moment in the game. Had Watkins scored, it is very likely that Villa would have gone on to win.

Tight margins could affect Arsenal in the title race again. Arsenal’s defeat to Aston Villa in April arguably lost them the title, and Trossard missed a big chance to open the scoring in that game.

This was the reverse, as Villa missed two chances to take the lead, but were thwarted by Raya, before Trossard and Partey snatched all three points, and the goalkeeper was the true hero.

If Arsenal can go on to win the title, this save will be viewed as a pivotal moment in the season, and Raya deserves the praise he is receiving from his teammates.
