Mikel Arteta says one Arsenal player is actually a better dribbler than Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal are one of the most complete teams in world football.

Mikel Arteta has done a remarkable job on multiple fronts over the last four-and-a-half years, but one of the biggest reasons behind Arsenal’s success is his recruitment.

Arsenal have done a phenomenal job on the transfer market over the last few years, and Arteta and Edu Gaspar now have a team capable of winning the Premier League title.

From clinical finishers to silky midfielders and robust defenders to a ball-playing goalkeeper, Arsenal have it all, and they can play multiple styles of football.

The most attractive style, however, is attacking football, and Arsenal have a few dribblers who can get fans off their seats at the Emirates.

William Saliba suggests Gabriel Jesus is better at dribbling than Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli

There’s something about Brazilian footballers and dribbling – it’s almost like they are born with that gift.

From greats like Ronaldo and Ronaldinho to Neymar and Vinicius Junior, the Selecao have produced some truly exceptional dribblers over the years.

Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli is up there with the best in the Premier League. When he is in full flow, it’s almost impossible to stop him – just ask Trent Alexander-Arnold, he probably still has nightmares.

If you had asked us to name the best dribbler at the Emirates, the first name out of our mouth would probably be Martinelli, but William Saliba went in a different direction.

In a video on Canal Plus, the France defender was asked to build his ultimate Gunner by picking one Arsenal player – past or present – for each attribute, like left foot, right foot, shooting, dribbling, vision and defending.

We already told you how Saliba picked Martin Odegaard over Bukayo Saka for having the best left foot at Arsenal.

Now, the Frenchman has snubbed Martinelli and picked Jesus as the best dribbler at the club.

Arsenal fought really hard with 10 men against Manchester City, and many people will argue that Arteta’s side deserved to win that game.

Sadly, a last-minute equaliser from John Stones broke the Gunners’ hearts.

However, there were a lot of positives to take from that game, and two things that caught our eye were how Martinelli and Jesus, who are usually not confrontational, were ready to go to war.

The former, when he went down with cramp, was being verbally attacked by Manuel Akanji. Martinelli was having none of that and shouted back at the City defender, making him turn around and walk away.

Jesus too stood up to defend his own. When Erling Haaland tried to create a scene with Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal number nine jumped in to confront him.

Of course, we don’t want to see this ugly side of the game, but we must admit, watching Martinelli and Jesus stand up and fight gave us a lot of joy.

We hope that will spark a return to form for both players, who are absolutely world-class on their day and can win games on their own.
