Nico Williams agreement and £32m done deal – Arsenal’s wishlist before transfer deadline

Mikel Arteta has made it no secret that he is keen to bolster his Arsenal ranks in the final few days of the transfer window if the right opportunities present themselves. Thus, it could be a very busy few days for the Gunners ahead of Friday’s deadline day.

Arsenal have welcomed two new faces to their ranks over the past few months, with David Raya returning to the club on a permanent basis from Brentford following last season’s successful loan stint.

The Gunners also won the race to sign Riccardo Calafiori following his successful Euro 2024 tournament, striking an agreement with Bologna worth £38million.

Further business is on the cards in north London as well, with incomings and outgoings both being prioritised. Express Sport takes a look at four key pieces of business which Arsenal could conduct over the next few days…

Arsenal have been heavily linked with Athletic Bilbao star Williams since the transfer window opened, and a late move for the Spain international would be a real sign of intent from Arteta and co.

The winger is capable of playing anywhere across the front line and could make the left-wing spot his own at the Emirates, with his electric pace likely to cause weekly nightmares for Premier League fullbacks.

Mikel Merino deal announced

It appears to be only a matter of time until Merino joins Arsenal from Real Sociedad. With a £32million agreement in place, the Gunners are now looking to iron out the minor details before welcoming the arrival of the Spain international. Arteta shortlisted Merino as his top target heading into this summer’s transfer window, and he looks set to finally get his man.
