Sterling signs for Arsenal, Joe Gomez to Chelsea – Chaotic late transfers we could yet see

In just over one week the 2024 summer window will have slammed shut with all transfer business being put on the backburner until January.

But before then, there’s still plenty of time for Premier League clubs to flex their financial muscle and get deals across the line.

If you’re going to be exiled from training, it’s probably best that happens early in the summer, so it gives you and your agent plenty of time to sort out a move away.

It’s been the opposite for Raheem Sterling though, with the ex-Manchester City ace likely to spend the next few days scrambling around for a new club.

But given the time constraints between now and the end of the window, Sterling might have to settle for something closer to home.

What if that turns out to be Arsenal on a season-long loan? The Gunners could benefit from some added wing depth, with Mikel Arteta having worked alongside Sterling during the pair’s time at City.

Who knows where Chelsea’s spending spree will end, but it will take a brave person to bet against them adding yet more players to their squad this summer.

Joao Felix became the latest signing, but depending on how well Chelsea are able to shift players, there might be a need for a late home-grown addition.

Having already lost Conor Gallagher, the likes of Sterling, Trevoh Chalobah and Noni Madueke have also been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge.

Should Chelsea feel the need to bolster up their home-grown options, Liverpool’s Joe Gomez – who is reportedly available for transfer – could prove the perfect option.
