‘Top player’ wants to sign for Arsenal as Arteta steps up interest
Arsenal find themselves in a bit of a transfer tussle as Mikel Arteta already looks forward to the January transfer window.
Mikel Arteta may be starting to regret not making a couple more signings towards the end of the transfer window, as injuries and suspensions have left him in a bit of a pickle.
The Gunners weren’t able to sign a striker in the summer, despite letting Eddie Nketiah seal a move to London rivals Crystal Palace.
Kai Havertz has continued to lead the line this season and to good effect.
But, the only other option in that position Gabriel Jesus has been struggling with an injury already this season, which has left the German as Arteta’s only option.
However, it looks like Arsenal are eyeing a move for a central midfielder…
Javi Guerra wants to join Arsenal over Aston Villa
Arsenal could really do with a central midfielder right now as Declan Rice is set to miss the North London derby due to suspension, and Martin Odegaard has suffered an injury.
Ethan Nwaneri and Jorginho are the obvious options, with Kai Havertz dropping into Odegaard’s role.
Nevertheless, according to Caught Offside, Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Javi Guerra as they prepare to potentially make changes in midfield due to a desire to bring in younger replacements for ageing duo Jorginho and Thomas Partey.
The midfielder has a €100 million (£85 million) release clause, but Valencia are currently considering selling him for less than €30m (£25 million) in the near future.
There is also interest from Villa boss Unai Emery but it’s understood that Guerra’s preference would be to join Arsenal.
Who is Javi Guerra?
Javi Guerra looks to be one of the latest young stars to come off the production line in Spain, currently playing at Valencia in La Liga.
The youngster featured in 40 games for Valencia in all competitions last season, picking up four goals and operating as a central midfielder, defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder and a right midfielder.
Having seen Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla’s rise to stardom at the Emirates in the past, perhaps this could be Arsenal’s next Spanish sensation.
Interestingly, Manchester United were watching Guerra in almost every game last season and their scouts think he’s a ‘top player’ (as per Sport Witness).
