What Mikel Arteta has privately promised Arsenal’s board just before North London Derby
Arsenal are getting ready to take on Tottenham Hotspur in what will be a huge game for both sides.
The Gunners are desperate to return to winning ways after they dropped points against Brighton and Hove Albion just before the international break.
That makes the North London Derby even more important, but Arsenal could be without seven players for the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
That is a serious concern, but Mikel Arteta may have given his players and the club a big boost ahead of the game on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta makes Arsenal contract promise before Tottenham clash
Arsenal have strangely allowed Arteta to enter the final year of his contract.
The Spaniard is one of the best managers in world football, and you would imagine that Stan and Josh Kroenke would’ve wanted his future secured months ago.
That, for whatever reason, has not happened yet, but there is absolutely zero concern at the Emirates about their manager’s future.
GiveMeSport reveal that ahead of the game at Tottenham, ‘Arteta has promised that he will put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract’.
It has been claimed that both Arteta and Arsenal expect to reach a verbal agreement over a new deal in the next 30 days because both parties are eager to continue on the same path.
Barcelona were interested in Arteta after Xavi Hernandez announced his departure, but the Arsenal boss did not entertain that option. His commitment to the Gunners never waned.
The report further adds that Arteta has already informed his squad that he will be there for the long term, and that helped not just in the transfer market but also in convincing key players like Ben White and Martin Odegaard to extend their deals.
The huge salary Arsenal are set to offer Mikel Arteta with new contract
Arteta currently earns £8.3 million a year at Arsenal, which equates to a weekly wage of around £158,000 a week (GMS).
That’s not a small figure by any means, but if Arteta pens a new deal in the coming weeks, his salary will increase considerably.
The report claims that Arteta’s new deal is set to be worth a whopping £15 million a year. That means he will earn around £288,000 every week.
If those numbers are accurate, Arteta will have a higher salary than all the players at Arsenal. That, in our opinion, is exactly how it should be!
