The Los Angeles Dodgers won it all, making Chavez Ravine a very tough place to leave this winter.
Now that they’ve won two of the last five World Series, the Dodgers are looking to build a dynasty. Sure, they’ve got three future Hall of Famers at the top of their lineup, but they’re also always looking for more firepower.
In 2024, they found that firepower in Teoscar Hernández, who rebounded from a down year to make his second career All-Star team after signing a one-year Dodgers contract. Hernández batted fourth in every game of the playoffs, and was instrumental in taking home the Commissioner’s Trophy.
Plus, Hernández has expressed his desire to run things back for a few more years in Los Angeles. But will the Dodgers make him a priority?
Andrew Tredinnick of NorthJersey.com believes the two sides will be able to work out a reunion. He predicted that Hernández would be back with the Dodgers next season after a career-high 33 home runs in 2024.
“(Hernández) had a career season in Los Angeles, including a World Series title. Why leave?” Tredinnick said.
The 32-year-old Hernández had a fantastic .272/.339/.501 slash line in his lone Dodgers season, helping him win his third Silver Slugger Award. LA quickly became a special place for him, so if all other things are equal, it’s hard to see why he would choose to play his games elsewhere.
Jim Bowden of The Athletic projects a three-year, $75 million deal for Hernández. It’s feasible that the slugger could even command a fourth year if the market is as ripe for hitters as it appears to be for pitchers this winter.
