Montembeault Unleashes on Montreal Fans! Goalie Speaks Out After Humiliating Treatment

We witnessed a terrible scene, in my opinion, involving the Montreal Canadiens goaltender, Samuel Montembeault.

I love Montreal Canadiens fans, but in my opinion, this was terrible and unacceptable to see:

“Montembeault makes a routine save on a shot from the neutral zone, and the crowd applauds.”

I understand that fans can be emotional and disappointed (rightfully so), and I completely understand those who booed the entire team at the end of today’s game against the Devils.

However, directly targeting Samuel like this, I have a really hard time with that.

Samuel Montembeault humiliated by some fans at the Bell Centre, then breaks his silence in a press conference

Following what happened at the end of the game, with this sequence where Samuel Montembeault was sarcastically applauded by the crowd after making a routine save, he had this to say in the press conference:

“I wasn’t up to par. I need to do more. I need to be better.”

– Samuel Montembeault

He added:

“The goals will come, the guys are working hard, we’re getting a lot of shots on net, maybe we lacked a bit of traffic in front of the goalie to screen him and get the rebounds, but the guys are working hard.

For my part, I need to make the saves in a tight game like this, especially when we’re struggling to score goals, and I didn’t do that tonight.

– Samuel Montembeault”

Let’s not forget everything Montembeault has done for this team.

Without him, while Cayden Primeau was going through all sorts of struggles, things would have been extremely difficult for the Habs.

Montembeault has done incredible work for the Canadiens in recent years.
