Colts Named Ideal Landing Spot for Elite Linebacker in Free Agency..
Nearly three weeks after the NFL’s free agency period opened, the Indianapolis Colts still desperately need a linebacker. They got some solid play from the position this past season, but players like EJ Speed and Grant Stuard were free agents. Stuard signed with the Detroit Lions and Speed very recently signed with the Houston Texans in free agency, which leaves the Colts in a precarious situation. Zaire Franklin was the star of the linebacker group, but the pair that departed were solid depth. Now, with less than a month left until the draft and free agent markets drying up rapidly, Indianapolis is left scrambling to find replacements. Luckily, there is still one more player out there that can bolster the linebacker room. Arizona Cardinals linebacker Kyzir White Joe Images Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton crafted a list of ideal landing spots for key free agents still available and the Colts made the cut. Moton projected them to be a top destination for linebacker Kyzir White. White has been in the NFL for nearly a decade, but he recently improved his status when he had a breakout season with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022.
He tallied over 100 tackles and had seven passes defensed which earned him a $10 million contract that offseason with the Arizona Cardinals. After two extremely productive seasons in the desert, the former Los Angeles Charger is on the open market once again. If the Colts were able to bring him into the fold, they would easily have their best linebacker corps since Shaquille Leonard was on his insane All-Pro run from 2018-2021. The best part is that a contract for White wouldn’t be all that expensive. So, while Indianapolis isn’t strapped for cash, they could add an underrated veteran to put next to Zaire Franklin and still maintain cap flexibility for a trade, perhaps for Cincinnati Bengals defender Trey Hendrickson which has been rumored recently. There hasn’t been much news about White or where he may sign, so it’s anyone’s guess where he’ll end up. But if he is interested in joining the White and Blue then the Colts shouldn’t hesitate to pick him up.
