Path to Canton: Lamar Jackson Stellar Play Put Him Ahead of Patrick Mahomes and Tie…

It’s been another absurd season of Lamar Jackson so far in 2024. Through 10 games, he’s already thrown for over 2,600 yards and 24 touchdowns. The Baltimore Ravens have obviously benefitted the most from this, as they’re now 7-3 and prepared to take first place from the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North very soon.

Jackson’s been making headlines with his stellar play all season long. In their most recent win against the rival Cincinnati Bengals, he tossed four touchdowns with 290 yards through the air, while adding in 33 yards rushing. Jackson provided highlight-worthy plays all night, including a jump-pass touchdown to Rashod Bateman off of one leg.

With this type of play comes recognition. Jackson, who has already won two MVP awards, is well on his way to a third. He’s projected to throw 41 touchdowns this season with only three interceptions. What many are failing to realize is that if Jackson claims his third MVP trophy, he’ll be surpassing arguably his biggest nemesis.

Patrick Mahomes has also turned the league upside down since being drafted in 2018. Mahomes has done what Jackson hasn’t, which has been to win the Super Bowl. The three-time Super Bowl MVP has taken down the Ravens and Jackson multiple times on his way to the promised land.

Mahomes has two league MVP trophies as well. However, if Jackson were to win this season, he’d surpass Mahomes in this category.

Jackson would also place him in elite company with a third MVP nod. Tom Brady, Johnny Unitas, Brett Favre and Jim Brown all have three MVPs under their belt. Aaron Rodgers has four and Peyton Manning has five, which is the most all-time. This would almost certainly put Jackson on a path to Canton, if he isn’t on one already.
