Potential Departure: Cubs Makes Strong Push for Atlanta’s Breakout Talent
The Chicago Cubs are a team that aren’t too many pieces away from contention.
Chicago has money to spend and likely will make a splash this offseason. The Cubs certainly need some pitching and because of this, Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer listed Chicago on his list of top landing spots for Atlanta Braves star Max Fried.
“That there has yet to be any solid reporting connecting Fried to the Cubs could mean nothing. Or, it could mean the club’s focus is elsewhere, such as on its underpowered offense or its undermanned bullpen.”
Fried spent the last eight years as a member of the Braves but he’s available and it seems like he’s going to be playing elsewhere in 2025. Fried has a 3.07 ERA across 168 appearances with the Braves. He earned two All-Star nods and helped lead the Braves to the World Series in 2021. Now, he’s going to get paid well this winter.
If the Cubs want to make an addition this winter, Fried would be a fantastic start. He’s one of the best left-handed hurlers in baseball and would help take the Cubs’ rotation to another level.
