Raiders Roar into New Era: Las Vegas Makes Bold Move Under John Spytek
The Las Vegas Raiders overhauled the organization this offseason after a disappointing 2024 campaign under head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco. Owner Mark Davis authorized minority owner Tom Brady to help with the decision making in 2025, and the committee hired a tandem of Pete Carroll and John Spytek to lead the franchise going forward.
Spytek came highly regarded by Brady as the two men were teammates at the University of Michigan and met up in Tampa Bay when Spytek was an executive for the Buccaneers. In his first season as the main decision-maker, Spytek will have his hands full as he tries to build this franchise into a winner. He already began making moves on Tuesday as the Raiders waved defensive back Keenan Isaac.
Isaac has spent two seasons in the NFL playing for the Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers after going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. He signed with the Buccaneers and remained with the team until the following fall, then joined the Panthers for a short period.
He re-joined the Buccaneers for two months after a failed stint with the Panthers, then ended up on the Raiders’ practice squad in November of 2024 before signing a Reserve/Future contract in January. However, for a third time now, Spytek has released Isaac back into NFL free agency.
The cornerback has played in seven NFL games across his two years in the league. He did not play any snaps on the defensive side of the ball but accumulated 59 plays on special teams. He accrued no statistics.
