Report: Kerr Stands Firm on Tatum Benching Decision
Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors rolled through TD Garden with a target on the back of their head. Kerr has been enemy number 1 in the city of Boston ever since his decision to bench Jayson Tatum during the Paris Olympics.
Ahead of the much-awaited 2022 NBA finals rematch between the Celtics and Warriors, Kerr addressed the media about his decision to bench Tatum. While most sports fans were focused on watching two of the top teams in the league take on each other, Boston fans and media members were focused on Kerr addressing his tough decisions in the Olympics.
During his pregame media availability, Steve Kerr was asked if he had any ‘regrets’ about benching Jayson Tatum during the Olympics. In response, his answer was clear.
Do I have any regrets… We’ve got 12 Hall of Famers and we’re just committed to winning, and we won the gold medal. I don’t give it a whole lot of thought other than I didn’t enjoy not playing Jayson against Serbia, not playing Joel (Embiid) against South Sudan.

Steve Kerr bluntly stated that he had to make tough decisions while playing 12 Hall of Fame level players. Given the roster talent of Team USA, Kerr had to make the call to bench Tatum. They eventually would go on to win the Gold Medal at the Olympics, despite the criticism towards Kerr from Boston fans and media.
