Rivalry Heats Up: McKinney Sparks Controversy With Comments on Bears Star
The Green Bay Packers are 6-3 coming out of their bye week. With a matchup against the Chicago Bears coming up, Xavier McKinney had some words for Chicago Bears star D.J. Moore.
Before the season started, Moore appeared on Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams and seemingly shrugged off the Packers signing of McKinney in the offseason. McKinney brought up the interaction and more in the locker room on Wednesday, according to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman.
McKinney did not stop there. A couple of weeks ago a clip of Moore walking off of the field in the middle of a play went viral. This made McKinney question Moore’s leadership and willingness to stick by rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
“This dude walked out on (his quarterback). I’ve been playing (NFL) football for five years now and I’ve been watching football for longer than that and I don’t think I’ve ever seen (that),” said McKinney. “You’re supposed to be the guy and you’re just walking off the field. You’re walking off the field on a rookie quarterback that you’ve been praising, so it’s like, that’s a whole other story.”
Moore noted later in the week that he injured his ankle on the play. However, McKinney does not buy his excuse.
“Cap,” said McKinney. “That’s what I say. Cap.”
