After relief pitcher Joe Kelly , Miguel Rojas has become the latest Los Angeles Dodgers star to throw a shade on the New York Yankees. In a recent interview, the shortstop took a brutal dig on the Yankees’ ‘ lazy defense.’

Following the World Series triumph last week, Kelly boldly claimed it was a “mismatch from the get-go” and stated that the Yankees were probably the 8th or 9th-ranked team in the postseason. While appearing on the Chris Rose Rotation podcast, host Chris Rose and Miguel Rojas would discuss the report of Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

In his report, the MLB insider wrote that the Dodgers scouting team informed the players that the Yankees were a team of talents over fundamentals. Rojas would admit that they knew they could make a difference in this area.

We got to the Yankees and we had an opportunity to prepare for them in our scouting report meeting, we found their weakness. Their weakness was the way that they make outs on the bases, the way that they didn’t take care of the baseball, play kind of like little bit of lazy defense.

In Game 5 of the World Series, the Yankees imploded during the fifth inning. After a fielding error by Aaron Judge , the Yanks made several more mistakes, which eventually cost them that game after being 5-0 up. After the game, Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter ripped the team, with the former calling it the “greatest meltdown” he had ever seen in 40 years.

During the interview with Chris Rose, Miguel Rojas credited the core stars of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the team’s success. The 35-year-old stated that when seeing guys like Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw, Daniel Hudson , and Blake Trenien grind out is what got the team going.

The Venezuelan international further explained how Freeman tried to get on base every single day even if he was hurt. Seeing him and the other leaders of the team work out hard motivated the other members of the team.

When you see Freddie Freeman play the game every single day, he is not looking to pimp home runs. He is going to run out every single ball even when he is hurt. So when you see the core guys and the main guys in your team doing it every single day with no excuses, that’s when everybody follows.

He further added that the Dodgers are so detail-oriented because their star players hold them accountable if something goes wrong.

Despite having an issue with his ankle, Freeman continued to play for the Dodgers in the World Series. It was later revealed that he was battling another serious injury as he had broken his rib cage during a training session. His heroics were awarded with a World Series crown and the title of MVP.
