Shocking Move: Marquee Player on Phillies’ Radar, All-Star May Exit
The Philadelphia Phillies fell short of their World Series expectations in 2024. The team could look to make a major trade in order to make a deep run in 2025.
While outlining teams to watch in free agency, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale noted that the Phillies are open to trading Alec Bohm if it means adding a marquee player.
Bohm was named an All-Star for the first time in his career in 2024. He had a .280 batting average and hit 15 home runs. He could be a valuable player in a trade for a star. Bohm is arbitration-eligible for 2025 and 2026. With that kind of control and his resume, he could be packaged into a blockbuster deal.
The Phillies are not shy of spending. They will be willing to do whatever it takes in order to win a World Series.
“For the right player,” Phillies owner John Middleton told reporters, according to Nightengale. “I have a high degree of confidence that Dave and I would go over the third limit.”
