Shocking: NBA Experts Drops Bombshell: Kevin Durant ‘Tanked’ His Own Career

Kevin Durant is looking to make his 15th NBA All-Star appearance this weekend highlighting the longevity of this greatness in the league, but one NBA expert has suggested he may have ‘tanked’ his own career.

The Phoenix Suns man recently broke the 30,000-point barrier in the NBA, becoming just the eighth person in history to do so.

Durant reached the milestone against the Grizzlies and Ja Morant was quick to show his respect to the veteran by handing him the game ball.

KD is looking to close in on 35,000 before he calls time on his career as he dropped a further 37 points in the Suns’ recent 119-111 loss to the Houston Rockets.

Cowherd critical of Durant’s ‘tanking’

Despite averaging 27-6-4 this season Durant is struggling to single-handedly carry the Suns to success as they sit with a 26-28 record in the Western Conference.

They currently find themselves out of the play-in tournament and it is going to take some effort from the two-time NBA champion and his teammates to turn their form around.

Durant has always been a guaranteed bucket and has not averaged less than 25 points in a season since his rookie year.

There is no doubt that the 2014 NBA MVP will go down as one of the best players to ever grace a basketball court when he eventually hangs up his sneakers, but Colin Cowherd has stated how he believes Durant tanked his career.

Speaking on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, he said: “Kevin Durant tanked his own career. At the time he was at the Golden State, there were half the people covering the league that said he was better than LeBron and then he decided ‘I want to go and play with Kyrie in Brooklyn.’

Cowherd went on to state the biggest difference between LeBron James and Durant who have become very close friends in the league.

He said: “The difference between LeBron and KD is that LeBron is more like a Gordon Ramsey or a Jay-Z, ‘I’m not a businessman, I’m a business… man’. Kevin Durant is more the artist who halfway through the tour cancels the tour, sues Ticketmaster and gets into a fistfight with his drummer.”

Durant linked with Suns exit

Despite Durant scoring 1,121 points so far this season for the Suns he is still being linked with a trade from the side.

A return to the Golden State Warriors was hotly tipped but it appears Durant did not want to go back there.

Although he did not move on in the latest window it appears the summer is likely to see the exit of Durant from Phoenix, unless things change drastically in the coming months.

It’s safe to say the Suns superteam attempt of Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker has not succeeded and owner Matt Ishbia is not afraid to make some big calls.

There certainly won’t be any shortage of interest in Durant during the summer that’s for sure.
