Tatis Unleashed! Padres Star Blunt Take on Being Overlooked Goes Viral
The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series in 2024 and enter the 2025 MLB season as the overwhelming favorites once again.
The San Diego Padres had a rather quiet offseason while the Dodgers added pitchers Blake Snell and Tanner Scott (former Padres), Japanese star pitcher Roki Sasaki and South Korean infielder Hyeseong Kim, among others.
As such, the Padres are being overlooked a bit even though they had a 2-1 lead in the NLDS in the last postseason against the Dodgers.
Ultimately, the Dodgers came back and wound up winning the World Series, although the Padres had them on the brink of elimination.
With spring training beginning, Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. was asked if they are being overlooked.
And, Tatis gave a simple answer.
“I don’t,” Tatis said when asked if they feel overlooked. “We’re just going to figure it out.”
Tatis didn’t hesitate when answering the question, saying they would have to “figure it out.”
The Padres missed out on some top free-agent players including Sasaki while also seeing Scott sign with the Dodgers and Ha-Seong Kim head for the Tampa Bay Rays. Jurickson Profar also left and signed with the Atlanta Braves, so there have been a lot of departures this time around.
However, the Padres did sign pitcher Nick Pivetta to a four-year, $55 million deal recently to add some depth to the rotation.
The Padres are still adding to the roster, including bringing in veteran Yuli Gurriel on Monday.
Still, Tatis doesn’t feel like they are “overlooked”, especially just months removed from a 93-69 regular season finish and an NLDS run that ended with a loss to the Dodgers.
