It didn’t matter what happened in the final eight weeks of the regular season, or what occurred during the playoffs — Saquon Barkley wrapped up the NFL “Moment of the Year” in Week 9.
The Eagles superstar running back wowed the entire sports world during an early November win over the Jaguars when he leaped backward over Jacksonville CB Jarrian Jones, completing a rare reverse hurdle.
It was the highlight of a day that saw Barkley collect 159 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries while tacking on 40 receiving yards and one TD through the air. It left announcers, teammates, opponents and viewers speechless over his athleticism.
Barkley put together one of the greatest rushing seasons of all time, becoming just the ninth member of the exclusive 2,000-yard rushing club. He came just short of breaking the single-season rushing record, as the decision to sit him in Week 18 ahead of the playoffs ended his campaign with 2,005, 100 yards short of the mark owned by Eric Dickerson.
Yet, the most memorable moment — aside from a potential Super Bowl ring, of course — will be Barkley’s phenomenal hurdle.
