The Next Big Thing! Davion Mitchell Marvels at Teammate’s Jaw-Dropping Abilities
The big trade conducted by the Miami Heat at the trade deadline was the deal with the Golden State Warriors.
Headlined by Jimmy Butler leaving for the Warriors, the Miami Heat received Andrew Wiggins and Kyle Anderson as part of the deal.
Miami struck another deal with the Toronto Raptors, bringing in Davion Mitchell, in exchange for PJ Tucker, a second round pick, plus cash.
Mitchell adds strength on defense for Miami, with the pedigree of being a former ninth overall pick in 2021 with the Sacramento Kings.

The past few days have required a quick turnaround for Davion Mitchell, along with fellow new faces Wiggins and Anderson.
Speaking ahead of the Heat’s game with the Celtics, Mitchell was asked about his initial impressions of his new teammates, and how it compared to being in Toronto.
Mitchell named Raptors star Scottie Barnes, pointing out that in his opinion, new teammate Bam Adebayo is a bigger, an more experienced version.
He explained: “You had really good defensive players like Scottie Barnes, he kind of remind me a little bit of Bam.
“Bam is a lot bigger, can jump higher block shots, Scottie can guard most positions too, it’s just the fact Bam has been in the league longer, he’s been an All-Star, he’s been All-Defensive, he kind of knows a little bit more.”
Mitchell also stressed the importance of the Heat players defending together, and is keen to add to the mix with his own game, while impressing others.
Adebayo has been taking on even more of a leadership role this season, expressing his own desire to get his jersey retired by the team one day.
The Heat were defeated 103-85 at home to the Celtics. Adebayo led Miami with 22 points.
Kel’el Ware has also stood out
Davion Mitchell also expressed his excitement at getting to play alongside 7’0 rookie Kel’el Ware, who has forced his way into the Miami Heat starting five in recent weeks.
Mitchell said: “You’ve got Kel’el, who is a freak athlete, who can go and get blocks from anywhere.
“I can send people to the rim, he can block the shot, and we out and running.”
Ware stood out in a win over the Spurs last month where he went head to head with Victor Wembanyama, and showed what he is capable of.
A fresh start alongside Ware and Adebayo sounds like it has inspired Mitchell, who was averaging 21 minutes per game on the Raptors.
