The Next Big Thing in Raiders: Brock Bowers is on a Mission to Revive the Raiders’ Tight End Tradition
The Las Vegas Raiders have had some pretty good tight ends over the year, and yet, as a rookie, it’s looking like Brock Bowers could have the best career of them all, barring nothing crazy happens. And yes, I know how crazy it sounds to be saying a rookie could be the franchise great, but look at what he’s doing.
Bowers is a rookie on a bad team, in a bad offense, with a bad quarterback, mostly anyway, but he’s still somehow finding ways to be the best tight end in the league. He’s breaking records left and right and is now in a position to be one of the best rookie right ends ever if he’s not already.
The Raiders struck gold in Bowers, and we all see that. But now, he’s trying to do something else. Now he’s trying to do what hasn’t been done since Darren Waller wore silver and black in his prime.
Raiders TE Brock Bowers getting Pro Bowl votes
The Pro Bowl votes were recently announced, and the return has been great for the Raiders, despite them being one of, if not the worst team in the league. But, a large part of the Pro Bowl votes are fan votes, and we know that the Raiders have the best fan base in the league, so it only makes sense.
Of course, Maxx Crosby has been getting some votes, as has Robert Spillane and others. But, no one has more votes than rookie tight end Brock Bowers does. In fact, he is leading all AFC tight ends in votes and is second in votes behind just George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers.
The last tight end to be a Pro Bowler for the Raiders was Darren Waller in 2020, and to me, this one is much more impressive when you think bout this offense, him being a rookie, and how good that offense was in 2020.
Bowers is a beast right now.
Bowers is sitting at 884 receiving yards, fourth in the league and first among tight ends. He has games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Chargers, to get to that 1,000 yards mark, and it looks like he’s going to do it.
