The Truth Revealed: Draymond Green Spills the Tea on Karl-Anthony Towns Viral Comments

Draymond Green and Karl-Anthony Towns went at each other when the Golden State Warriors took on the New York Knicks at Chase Center on March 15. Green and Towns exchanged words on numerous occasions and the former has now revealed what the latter told him, during an episode of The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis.

“This was a big moment for Towns,” Green said. “I called him soft. He said, ‘Man, you a h**.'”

Green stated Towns called him a “h**” on multiple occasions during the game. While some might have taken offense to that, the Warriors forward actually loved to see that from the Knicks star.

“So, I’m loving that,” Green stated. “If Karl-Anthony Towns was my teammate, that’s what I’m looking to get out of him every single night. If he played that physical all the time, he’d be much more respected around the NBA than he is. He is respected as a talented player, but you saw Matt Barnes say the other day, ‘KAT’s problem is he a cat. He not a dog.’

“If KAT come out and play with the type of dog that he played with against me the other night, man, good luck guarding Karl-Anthony Towns,” Green added. “… He play like that, he’s a different player.”

You certainly would want Towns to play with that kind of aggression every night. The 29-year-old put up 29 points (12-21 FG), 12 rebounds, three assists, and one block against the Warriors. Towns wanted to make a point and did so but he didn’t get the win.

The Warriors narrowly beat the Knicks 97 -94 with Green recording nine points (3-9 FG), four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block. The 35-year-old was inefficient from the field but did hit the dagger layup over Towns to get the last laugh. After the game, Green praised Towns, claiming it was the most physical he’d ever seen him play.

“It was good to see KAT show up and play like that,” Green said. “He played hard, played well. He was physical. Probably the most physical I’ve ever seen him. Had a little extra motivation, so that made the game really fun. That was great.”

That motivation, of course, came from comments Green had made after the first game between the Warriors and Timberwolves this season on March 4. Towns missed that contest and Draymond falsely accused him of ducking Jimmy Butler. The big man had actually sat out for that game as he was attending the funeral of a family friend who had passed away due to cancer.

You’d think Green would offer a sincere apology upon finding that out but that wasn’t the case. Draymond’s apology was rather pathetic and that ensured there was going to be some tension in the air when the teams met again.

Green and Towns are unlikely to cross paths on the court again this season, as the Warriors and Knicks would have to make it to the NBA Finals for that to happen. It would be a shock if either team managed to make it that far.
