The Los Angeles Dodgers have made it known that they have some level of interest in bringing Enrique Hernandez back. Hernandez is a fan favorite and a postseason hero.
All he did throughout his Dodgers career was prove he’s one of the best playoff performers in the sport, and while there’s a load of talent already in Los Angeles’ clubhouse, there’s value in having a guy like him around.
From his perspective, he might be willing to take a different role with another team. He’s already won two World Series and might want to play daily.
Right now, the Dodgers can’t necessarily offer them that.
However, there’s a team in the American League that could.
Chad Jennings of The Athletic noted that, predicting him to sign with the Cleveland Guardians.
“Defensively, center field is the Guardians’ most glaring need. In terms of experience, they’re thinnest at second base. And their everyday lineup includes only one strictly right-handed hitter.
“Well, Hernández would address all of that. He would be their best defensive option in center, their most experienced option at second, and another right-handed bat on a roster loaded with lefties and switch hitters,” Jennings wrote.
The Guardians have been a playoff team multiple times over the past few years, but there are concerns about how they’ll play in 2025.
They’ve lost some talent and haven’t really added any, making someone like the 33-year-old Dodgers veteran an intriguing target.
