The Miami Dolphins selected Penn State edge rusher Chop Robinson 21st overall in the 2024 NFL Draft this past April. Although starting his rookie season a bit lukewarm, Robinson has been cooking lately.
While a lot of rookies could be approaching a mid-season wall so to speak, it appears Robinson is accelerating, and about ready to break through it. Over the last three weeks, Robinson has notched his first two career sacks as a pro.
His first came Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills and then he followed that up with a Week 10 sack against the Los Angeles Rams. While he was held without one this past Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, Robinson’s presence helped Miami to a 34-19 victory.
Robinson was among the week’s top-graded rookies at 86.0. Among all edge rushers in Week 11, Robinson was tied for third in pressures, first in hurries, and first in pass rush win rate. Adding a little spice to this, he was the Dolphins’ highest graded player against the Raiders, as per Pro Football Focus
Across the last two weeks, Robinson has been graded very well. Among edge rushers the last two games, he is tied for third in pressures, first in pass rush win rate and first in pressure rate according to PFF.
Robinson has been setting the table for a surge and he is looking for his first sack at home in Hard Rock Stadium. With the New England Patriots coming to town, Robinson looks to be inhospitable to the AFC East rivals and rookie quarterback Drake Maye. It’s to be noted that New England has allowed 35 sacks so far this season, ranking 29th in the league.
On the year, Robinson has 14 total tackles, four for loss with three of those occurring over the last four games, and a pair of sacks. Robinson has twelve pressures over the last two games and 18 across the last four.
He looks to continue his progression against the 3-8 Patriots, as the Dolphins hope to stay very much alive in the AFC playoff picture.
