“Unc” Controversy: Kyrie Irving Blasts Young Fans for ‘Unc’ Label, Says…
Kyrie Irving was a guest on Kai Cenat’s ‘Mafiathon’ streaming event last night. As he was walking in, Kai Cenat made the mistake of calling Irving ‘Unc’, which is a term of endearment for older people. Irving went off after hearing that, asking why that is a term being used for him, especially since he is only 32 years old and still very young.
“Look, the only thing about this generation now is the vocabulary. When you call somebody Unc in their 30s while we’re still getting after it in our own way…. come on bro. Even that sounded old, just saying it like it that. Bro, what the f**k?”
Irving then explained further why he is still young and experiencing life in different ways. Cenat jokingly dismissed what he had to see, and Irving responded by gesturing that he was going to punch him, only for both of them to start laughing.
“You keep saying I don’t strike you as old… How old are you?… I’m 32. I’m changed. When I was 22 [laughs.”
Irving and Cenat then took to the basketball court, where Irving was giving tips on basketball plays to Cenat and his friends. This is an opportunity most fans would pay good money for, and Irving was training Cenat’s friends for free, out of the kindness of his heart.
During the training session, one of Cenat’s friends asked Irving to recreate his iconic game-winning dagger in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals. However, Irving denied the request, saying that the shot and the moment were in the past, and he was focused on the future.
“Sorry, fellas, that’s the past… Time to create new memories.”
Irving was clearly having a good time and didn’t want to get into reminiscing about that shot. However, Irving did speak about making that shot on the stream, talking about what was going through his head as he launched the shot that won the Cavaliers the 2016 NBA championship.
