Vladdy Speaks! Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Drops Bombshell, Sends Message to Cubs and all 30 MLB Teams
Around Major League Baseball, there are times when teams have to take a risk with a player.
The Chicago Cubs are in that situation, as they have a few positions with a guy or two ready to go. That includes first base with youngster Michael Busch, who isn’t only on one of the best contracts in Major League Baseball but looks like a future star.
However, Busch is good enough to potentially move to another position, and if the Cubs were to find a way to sign somebody like Vladimir Guerrero Jr., it would seem like something Jed Hoyer has to accomplish.
Well, luckily for Cubs fans and the organization, that seems like a real possibility after his latest comments.
“If I go to free agency, every team — all 30 teams — are going to have the opportunity to sit down with (me), to talk to me,” Guerrero told the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
After the Toronto Blue Jays didn’t do what they needed to do to extend the slugger, every other team in the league will now have an opportunity to land him next winter.
Of course, things could change, and the Blue Jays could come in with a $500-plus million offer that blows him out of the water, but Guerrero said the Blue Jays offer wasn’t even close to what he wanted a few days ago.
It’s also important to note that the Cubs have to extend Kyle Tucker, and that should be their first priority.
Still, if Guerrero becomes available next winter and shows any signs of wanting to play at Wrigley Field, he’s the type of player to break the bank for.
