The Golden State Warriors need to make a change. After a hot start to the season, they have completely lost all their momentum.
While Golden State may get the odd win here and there, they are losing games more regularly. And it has become a point of serious concern for them.
They traded for Dennis Schroder last month, but he hasn’t lived up to expectations. So it stands to reason they are looking for more upgrades.
Warriors want assets from Cam Johnson trade
It appears the Warriors might be talking to the Nets again, this time regarding Cam Johnson. Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints is reporting that the Warriors are monitoring the situation.
However, the Warriors aren’t trying to pursue Cam Johnson. They had talks to land him which didn’t work. This time around, they’re looking at the Nets’ potential trade partner.
The Indiana Pacers have picked up steam as a potential landing spot for Johnson. And if that is the case, they’d part ways with Obi Toppin, Aaron Nesmith, and perhaps Jarace Walker in a deal.
The Warriors are looking to help facilitate this deal and perhaps get their hands on Aaron Nesmith, whom they have been interested in for a long time.
Should the Warriors get aggressive in their interest
With the Warriors now sitting eighth in the West with a record of 18-17, they are in a strange position. While they’ve squandered their hot start to the season, they’re still not irredeemable.
A few roster moves and an uptick in form can help them get back to the top of the West. But they need to act quickly since time is ticking.
Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the rest of the Warriors front office should now ramp up their efforts, and start making some calls.
Nesmith fills a gap they’re missing at shooting guard, having lost De’Anthony Melton to injury and then trading him to the Nets. So they should go and get him while they can.
