Lions Land the Beast: All-Pro Pass-Rusher Joins Detroit in Blockbuster Trade
I don’t want to raise anyone’s hopes up too much, so take this blog for whatever it’s worth. (We both know what it’s worth.)
BUT. The Lions sure are in a lot of wild speculation this offseason. I guess that’s what happens when you have Super Bowl aspirations and end up winning as many playoff games as the Chicago Bears. Ever since their loss in the NFC Divisional round, people far and wide on the internet have tried to figure out how to fix the Lions. It’s nice of them, really.
And of those attempts, Bleacher Report may have found the most … interesting? Dramatic? Messy? … answer. In their latest roundup of trade ideas that’ll definitely never happen, they float an absolute BANGER for the Lions’ this offseason: landing Raiders star Maxx Crosby for a whole bunch of draft capital and a backup QB.

Raiders get: 2025 first-round pick (No. 28 overall), 2026 first-round pick, QB Hendon Hooker
Lions get: EDGE Maxx Crosby, 2025 fifth-round pick (No. 144 overall)
“The defense is losing its coordinator in Aaron Glenn, so the sheer talent on the defensive line could help new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard keep things going in the right direction. This would be a massive price to pay for Crosby. Two first-round picks and a young quarterback in Hooker, who could wind up being a starter, is not an easy package to give up. However, the move could make the Lions the prohibitive favorite to win the championship next season.”
In a way, I kinda respect that Bleacher Report actually put together a realistic trade. It would take multiple first round picks to get Crosby from the Raiders. Most of the trade ideas you find on the internet are wildly unrealistic – not because of the idea, but because of the terms – so credit where it’s due, B/R got it right here.
Otherwise, yeah, I dunno. It sounds wild to say out loud, but I almost feel like, at this point, trading for Myles Garrett feels more realistic. Crosby’s fiercly loyal to the Raiders, and it seems like the Pete Carroll hire has rejuvenated him right at a time when he was starting to lose faith. So don’t hold your breath for a Crosby trade, unless of course you really want to. But if you run a Lions’ franchise on Madden, here’s a nice blueprint for how to get your guy.
